About the Class

The objective of the Arts class is to familiarize children with the beauty and variety of Indian art while fostering creativity, patience, and enjoyment throughout the process. Indian art forms will be explored through a series of hands-on projects that draw inspiration from traditional techniques and festive themes. Over the course of 14 classes, we will delve into eight distinct art forms, providing sufficient time for more intricate work. Activities will encompass Ganesha clay modeling, Kalamkari-inspired painting, Warli art, Madhubani art, Pottery/Diya painting, and Jharokha craft, highlighting various styles. This class is designed for children aged 7 and older. The instruction will be provided by Divya Meena garu, who possesses a background in architecture and a profound passion for art, especially watercolor painting. Conducting this class will allow her to share her love for art with the community. Below is a visual representation of some sample works that the children will create. She also manages an art page, @the_unfinished_palette, where she showcases her work and creative journey. The course would be structured to gradually build skills over the semester, with each class introducing a new concept. Students will leave the program with a strong foundation in watercolor and a portfolio of their own creations.
