Classical Music - Carnatic Vocal
Carnatic Vocal classes at Austin Gurukulam are conducted by the very talented Mrs. Ramya Srikanth.
- Ramya started her music education at a very young age - her first Guru was her mother Ms. Lakshmi Balasubramanian, who learnt from Kalakadu Mahadeven and Kalakadu RamaNarayan.
- Following that, Ramya had the wonderful experience of learning for 6 years, from Ms. Rukmini Sadagopan who was a counter part to P. Leela.
- Then, she was fortunate to learn from T.V. GopalaKrishnan for a year and a half., during which Ramya also had the opportunity to perform Carnatic Vocal concerts on AIR and in the temples in Chennai.
Ramya has been teaching Carnatic music to both children and adults in Austin since 1997. She also conducts Carnatic lessons in the Steiner Ranch area.
At Austin Gurukulam, she teaches children aged 5 years or above.
