Teachers at Austin Gurukulam
Austin Gurukulam is completely run by a team of talented and motivated volunteers who enjoy teaching children and share a common vision and goal of a strong Hindu community. We are always looking for volunteers to join our team - please contact us if you are interested and would like to contribute your time and talents towards our cause.
Dharma Classes:
The Dharma classes consist of the stories and discussions related to the Panchatantra, Puranas, Bhagavatam, Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita. The children are taught shlokas, ethics and principles of dharma in an engaging way, helping them learn to make good decisions in their life.
The class atmosphere is fun and encourages questions and imagination from the students. The learning is based on stories and activities to capture the children's interest.
The curriculum is highly structured and age-appropriate, designed to match the age and understanding of the child.
Language Classes
At present, the Austin Gurukulam offers Sanskrit, Telugu, Hindi and Tamil language classes. There are plans to expand the language offerings - this depends on both demand and teacher availability. Since Austin Gurukulam is run entirely by talented and motivated volunteers, please join us in helping the Language classes grow. If you are interested in teaching a Language class, please come talk to us at the Austin Hindu Temple!
Language classes focus on both spoken language and script. Shlokas or hymns are also taught in the language.
Note that, Balavihar class registration is mandatory to sign up for Language classes.
Activity Classes - Classical Dance(Bharatanatyam), Classical Music (Carnatic Vocal, Violin, Mrudangam), Art
Austin Gurukulam is the one destination where you can bring your child to the Balavihar classes, Language classes or Activity classes like Classical Dance (Bharatanatyam), Music (Carnatic Vocal, Mrudangam and Violin) and Art.
